Traces: Plankton on the Move

Traces is the result of a collaboration between Cynthia Beth Rubin and the Menden-Deuer Lab, Graduate School of Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island, which studies microscopic marine creatures - the most basic component of our food chain. In imagery derived from digital captures of plankton, these nearly mystical creatures leap beyond the confines of the microscopic world into an enticing world of colors and movement that begs us to relate to them as part of nature. The generally unseen life in our ocean waters becomes accessible.
